Who is Priyadharshni Rahul?
G. Priyadharshni, known as Priyadharshni Rahul, is one of India's most dynamic advocates—a practising Advocate and Central Government Counsel at the Supreme Court of India, serving simultaneously as Assistant Standing Counsel for the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Counsel for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and for REPCO (Repatriates Cooperative Finance and Development Bank).
Her extraordinary journey began in Chennai, where she earned the President's Award for Bharat Scouts and Guides at age 15, led the Republic Day NCC Parade as a college student, and was deputed as India's Youth Ambassador to the United Kingdom by the Government of India—all before entering law school. Her career exemplifies a seamless fusion of legal expertise, democratic advocacy, literary output, and national service.
Today she heads five nationally significant organisations, has authored 11 original books released by Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers and Members of Parliament, addressed world ambassadors in Kuwait, led delegations to the Israeli Parliament during wartime, and spoken before crowds of 40,000 in Delhi—all while actively practising in India's highest court.

Filed a landmark PIL seeking an exclusive Ministry for Senior Citizens in India. The Supreme Court heard the matter and directed representations to the appropriate Ministry/Authorities. The case was widely reported by wire agencies.
Navodaya Schools in Tamil Nadu
Served as arguing counsel representing the main petitioner for establishing Navodaya Vidyalayas in Tamil Nadu—ensuring free quality education for rural children in the state.
Thiruchendurai Village & Waqf Amendment
Represented a villager from Thiruchendurai concerning a 1,300-year-old temple, filing a PIL in support of the principles underlying the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025.

Policy Engagement & Democratic Advocacy
Priyadharshni Rahul's commitment to national progress goes far beyond the courtroom. She is actively engaged with India's most critical policy debates, consistently bringing legal, academic, and ground-level perspectives to policymakers at the highest levels.
She has been a strong and consistent voice for One Nation, One Election—even back in 2020 when she interviewed Dr Sudarsan Nachiappan (Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Simultaneous Elections) and former Chief Election Commissioner Shri T.S. Krishnamurthy. She recently met Shri P.P. Chaudhary, Chairman of the JPC for One Nation One Election, to share her research and insights.
Her cover story on the "International Aspects of Waqf Properties" in PreSense was so comprehensive that it caught the attention of Shri Jagadambika Pal, Hon'ble Chairman of the JPC on the Waqf Amendment Bill, who personally invited her for a detailed discussion—a rare honour for any legal journalist. She also assisted in providing the international perspective to the JPC's research process.
She has created national awareness through media and public platforms on: three new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA); the Women's Reservation Bill; the National Education Policy (NEP); Constitutional Day significance; Operation Sindoor; the role of Governors in democracy; new UGC guidelines; and women's security. She organised two international seminars for NEP's civil society consultation and hosted an online Conclave on the policy's key features.
Sansad Ratna — Leading India's Parliament Excellence Awards
As Chairman of the Sansad Ratna Awards Committee, Priyadharshni Rahul leads India's most prestigious award for parliamentary performance—an initiative personally suggested and inaugurated by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in 2010. Since then, 143 awards have been presented across 15 events to outstanding individual parliamentarians and parliamentary committees.
In May 2023, she led the Sansad Ratna team to seek blessings from the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, for the initiative. In February 2024, she led the delegation of Sansad Ratna Award-winning MPs of the 17th Lok Sabha for a historic photo session with the President. During both meetings, she personally briefed the President on the Awards' purpose and national impact—a testament to her stature and the programme's significance.
She also briefed the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, during the February 2024 delegation of award-winning MPs. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has personally conveyed his greetings to Prime Point Foundation and Sansad Ratna MPs in both 2018 and 2023.
